Do you know?

Before the technology and Internet era, most of the communication that occurred through oral or letters was the most private and secure communication. But the problem with these traditional methods of communication is very complex, time-consuming, and required high efforts so here we need advanced technology and the Internet to improve our communication, but after we get into the technology and internet era, it risks our privacy {Reference-1} {Reference-2}.

We can’t adopt back traditional way of communication again, and after the Telegram, hack caused millions of Telegram users’ data leak on the darknet which increases my concern so we have to choose a way that can give us limitless privacy and security to our communication. So, in this article, we will compare some private and secure chatting platforms based on cryptography and blockchain technology. Then in the end I will suggest the best private and secure communication application.

Keybase:

Keybase is an open-source privacy-focused chatting application created on public key cryptography technology, and this helps not only you secure your chat by the end-to-end encryption, but it also provides end-to-end encryption for file sharing. and it has an inbuilt stellar wallet to send or receive stellar coins, You can connect Keybase with GitHub, Twitter, Telegram, which solve the fake identity problem.

The points of concern about the Keybase application that it got accrued by zoom and you know zoom has much privacy-related controversy in the past{Reference}, Keybase little complicated to install and setup, confusing for new users and works little slow because it takes little time to encrypt any message {Reference}.

Dust:

Dust is another privacy-based tool created on blockchain technology, which provides top-level protection during communication. Dust not only provides private communication but also web search and identity theft protection. In the Dust application, you can search the Web privately and you will get an instant notification if your data compromised, for example, if your friend tries to capture a screenshot of your chats then you get notified {Reference}.

But Dust hasn’t facilities like crypto wallet, Web3 access and like Keybase it hasn’t multiple verification options or anything to solve fake identity problem but yeah for private communication this has outstanding features like auto message deletion, it gives full control to you to control your conversation so you can delete any message any time and it gets permanently deleted.

Sense chat:

They create secure chat on EOS blockchain so it supports EOS wallet in it where you can store sense tokens that you can earn by using this application. Secure chat has support end-to-end encryption, peer-2-peer verification system, multi-languages, etc.

To use Secure chat you don’t need email or phone number registration which is good but like Dust, it doesn’t support inbuilt web browsing, data leak notification, and conversation control {Reference}.

Sylo:

Sylo is a wallet and messenger application that rewards the user’s activity. They build this application on blockchain technology. Sylo has a major focus on privacy, so it uses “Sylo’s Decentralized Signalling” for encryption of the user’s conversations on demand. Sylo provide decentralized storage service to store your data and you can access that using Sylo tokens and the important thing Sylo provides a dApp’s ecosystem where you can run dApps (decentralized application)using Sylo network {Reference}.

Status:

This an open-source secure and private messaging application with built-in Web3 browser and crypto wallet and the major mission of the status app is to provides ten types of facilities to its users like Liberty, Censorship resistance, Security, Privacy, Transparency, Openness, Decentralization, Inclusivity, Continuance, and Resourcefulness {Reference}.

Status gives you the option to create both private and public chat groups where you can send and receive payment during chatting, Staus use “Waku is a peer-to-peer (p2p) messaging protocol” which removes centralized choke from your message by eliminating centralized third parties, Status uses ‘Double Ratchet’ algorithm on top of Whisper and end-to-end encryption which provides more security and privacy {Reference}.

Status application has inbuilt Ethereum wallet which supports ERC20 and ERC721 tokens on the Ethereum network so users can send receive and store Ethereum based tokens and Status application give you a feature to generate a universal username using which you can able to simplify your username and using that username you can able to receive Ether.

Because of the inbuilt Web3 browser in the status app, it provides you a decentralized ecosystem in your mobile where you can able to surf the Internet with no barrier but also can able to run all kinds of dApps of Ethereum network, which is just outstanding {Reference}.

Conclusion:

After the use of all the applications, I’m creating this blog article which gives me an excellent Idea to tell you about all these applications in details and I found the Staus application very good because you need not install multiple applications to be part a the decentralized network. Hence it created on top of the Ethereum network so it has a vast ocean of dApps to use and its ENS name generator helps you to remember your Eth wallet address easily, and its Waku protocol and Double Ratchet algorithm give the users a most secure way to communicate.
